This
site shows some of the work that I did for the Paramount Theatre in Rutland,
Vermont
during the summer of 2007. I did this work as an internship for my Graphic
Design
degree
that I was working towards at Castleton State College.
This
particular image is the second one I
did for the Leo Kottke show at The Paramount Theatre.
The
first one was a little much for an acoustic show. The first
advertisement is the one below.

This
is the first image that I produced for the Leo Kottke show.
Unfortunately, I think that I overdid it a little with the
light streaks in the background, so it wasn't used.

There
are only two things that I can say about this image.
1.)
It took a long time to get any images at all of the current
band's lineup.
2.)
The only images that were available were very low resolution
images.
That
being said, I think it works very well.

Around
the time that I had gotten around to doing this image, I was
totally sick and tired of using black as a color for the background.
Here,
I went in a different direction, so as to break up the plain-ness
of solid feilds of background color.
A long time ago they were The Dudes. After
many regroupings of the band, and the band has gone through
many changes, they became The Subdudes.
I am glad that I have been able to work on
an advertisement that represents a multi-diverse background
in music and that has such strong lyrical integrity. I beleive
that this particular ad reflects the recent art of their latest
CD, "Street Symphony", and that it also has the
energy of some of the legendary New Orleans background that
they are associated with.
THIS
IS THE OTHER SUBDUDES POSTER that is on the same page to show
the differences between the two.
The first one was a little too complicated,
so I had to rework it a little.
The
Irish Rovers.
In this ad, I had to dig up an old album cover
of theirs from the internet. Their album, Emmigrate Emmigrate,
reflected Ireland's mass exodus from The Emerald Isle.
I wanted to go with something a little on
the green side and I had to get creative with their old logo
from their old album cover.
I am glad that I took the time that it took
on this one. It's rather simple, but it has a kind of charm
to it.
THIS
IS THE MIKE SUPER AD that I did for the Paramount Theatre.
As usual, I started out with a very complicated
design that had way too much in it.
This is the final peice. Tim Marceau had told
me to tone it down a lot because the text in the previous
peice was way too out of control. It was kind of hard to look
at.
